Our System
Colloid Energy comprises multiple factions that work together for tyre pyrolysis. Our process is comprehensive, encompassing the initial stage of acquiring feedstock to developing our final products. Having the capability to oversee our entire tyre pyrolysis system means that we can make sure all our starting and resulting materials are handled responsibly and in line with Singapore's Green Plan and the Paris Climate Agreement. Learn more about the three stages of Colloid Energy's system - Feedstock, Pyrolysis and Products.Feedstock - ELT
Colloid Energy works with end-of-life tyres (ELT) and used tyres that would otherwise be disposed of as our feedstock.
We acquire said tyres from Nanyang Resources Pte Ltd, a collector of our feedstock based in Singapore. They engage well-established land transport and waste management companies such as ComfortDelGro and 800 Super Holdings Ltd as their clients.
We process approximately 2000 to 2400 tonnes of ELT a month at our pyrolysis plant, as pictured. We also collect used tyres in Singapore.
Pyrolysis
Colloid Energy set up our pyrolysis plant in 2017, located in Malaysia.
Following the collection of our feedstock, we utilise our pyrolysis plant in Malaysia to carry out the pyrolysis process. We have ensured that our plant adheres to domestic Environmental Impact Assessments in the process of producing pyrolysis oil, gas, carbon black and steel wire.
ELT is collected and processed through our pyrolysis chambers at high temperatures. In order to minimise additional energy requirements, this system is heated by recycling our pyrolysis gas, one of our products.
All stages of tyre pyrolysis will be subject to the pillars of our company policy - measuring environmental impact, usage of proper equipment, minimising waste materials and complying with environmental legislation.

Pyrolysis Oil
Pyrolysis Oil is a valuable fuel with a high calorific value (CV). It is commonly used in fuel blending for further utilisation in oil industries, such as to generate electricity.
Colloid Energy's process generates pyrolysis oil as a sustainable fuel. We export this fuel to regional countries to maximise the potential of pyrolysis oil through further development by the bunker oil industry as a blending stock. This is done according to the ISO8217 Bunker Fuel Standard.
Additionally, we collaborate with other major oil companies to maximise the potential of our pyrolysis oil.
Carbon Black
Tyre pyrolysis results in waste carbon char. We have developed this into Carbon Black. It can be used as a UV stabiliser, conductive agent and an anti-static agent. Additionally, it is also a reinforcing filler in rubber and can be used as a pigment.
Colloid Energy works with A&T Inno and A*STAR Institute of Chemical and Engineering Sciences to further refine Carbon Black resulting from our tyre pyrolysis. The result of this is the production of N3 Carbon Black, the most useful grade of its kind. Another benefit is that our process has a low energy consumption compared to most Carbon Black production methods.
Steel Wire
Steel wire resulting from our tyre pyrolysis will be sold directly to smelting plants in Malaysia.
Pyrolytic Gas
Resulting pyrolytic gas is recycled for the heating mechanism of tyre pyrolysis.
